Schools in Melbourne

I know there are other threads on this and I have read them :) I would like to hear your personal experiences with the schools, which ones have a good reputation and deliver on that and which obese I should avoid. We are planning on moving from New Zealand to Melbourne and have 3 highly/exceptionally gifted children aged 6, 5 and 3. Have been lucky wit our school here and my daughter has an awesome and amazing teacher this year, and I feel sad about leaving as she is so happy in that class (it is a cluster class of gifted kids around her age, so it is awesome). I am hoping that I will be able to find a school as awesome as this one but don't even know where or how to start looking again (after looking and searching so hard here in Christchurch before my daughter started). Thanks in advance.

Re: Schools in Melbourne

clifton hill primary school is said to be very good and has a large cohort of gifties. Hard to get in though. Another good avenue to try is the giftedfamilies at yahoo group which has lots of Melbourne people.

Re: Schools in Melbourne

Cool thanks, I will check that school out and also get myself onto yahoo and have a look. I think having kids with such high needs is making finding a school really difficult, here in New Zealand it is a real challenge (well I found that it was) to find a school that deal with giftedness well. We were incredibly lucky, I don't expect to be so lucky in Melbourne, but perhaps schools there are on general a lot better than here, I don't know. What I have found interesting though is the LOTE program most schools over there offer, it's amazing. We have nothing like that here.

Re: Schools in Melbourne

I have looked at all the websites and a couple stand out but then I could be completely wrong. Camelot Rise looks like it has good things going on as well as a few others. Do you know anything about this school?

Re: Schools in Melbourne

I agree that CRs website looks good but I have heard very mixed reports. I wish there was a way to do private messaging on this board LOL! Do you have an email address you could post?

Re: Schools in Melbourne

tb_twit at a hot place ;) I know how schools can look good or even seem good when you go to see them but turn out completely different, there are a lot of schools here in Christchurch that look amazing on their websites and seem very popular, but get to know more about them and talk to others that have been or go there and that's when you can really know what a school is like. Others I have looked at were Mount View primary school (as this is the area we are looking at..but I don't know the area so if it's horrible I'd like to know lol).

Re: Schools in Melbourne

Clifton hill also looks good but the houses in the area seemed very expensive. A good idea would have been for me to come check out all this stuff before we move but we have decided to do it all in one sweep.
