my beautiful daughter

hi, I'm the mother of an incredible child who brings us much joy and happiness. She will be starting preschool in February much to my relief! She will be three in a matter of weeks but has a vocab of a child thrice her age. She already plays violin and is showing an enormous interest in wanting to learn piano. As she is our only child I am finding it hard to know how much is too much. My daughter attends a kinder gym as well and we are rarely home due to our pusuit to keep her stimulated. Her questions of late are anatomy related and we have recently purchased a small statue of which organs can be removed. my husband and I tend not to speak of her achievements to others for fear of being known as 'one of those parents'. We live in Tasmania and are not sure where to begin to meet others like her. It has been suggested to us that she may be gifted but we don't know what is best for her.

Re: my beautiful daughter

Hi Shannon
I have a daughter who is 3.5 years old. She sounds very much alike your daughter. Brooke speaks like an adult and loves learning. I bought a little anatomy statue as well, but now we have a life size one (bought off ebay). She absolutely loves learning. I think as long as they want to learn and enjoy it then keep on teaching them as much as possible. We still have heaps of play time running around at the gym and at home. I know what it's like not being able to speak of achievements, it's hard especially when we are so proud of our littlies.
I bought her a telescope and microscope for her 3rd birthday. It's amazing when they have such a thirst for knowledge. Are you on msn? We could keep in contact if you like. We live way up here in QLD.

Re: my beautiful daughter

My daughter is also 3.5 and always been ahead with her milestones. She can write her name amongst other words, says things and asks questions that baffle me and has a real thirst for knowledge. Im a solo mummy so I dont really have anyone to bounce these things off. I do wrighting etc with her at home. She has such a knowingness about her and the things she comes out with often makes me feel like the child. She gets bored easily unless I give her something challenging like a workbook, etc. Im really not sure where to go with this. Id love to chat to other parents in similar situations. I have msn and will check back here to see who has replied.
