SPELD VICTORIA
SPELD Victoria is a branch of the National AUSPELD. It is a support organization for those with specific learning difficulties and their families, run by parents and professional people. Difficulties include those in listening, speaking, reading, writing, spelling, calculating, and spatial relations.
Aims and objectives include:
- increase community awareness of specific learning difficulties and their impact.
- lobby politicians to provide appropriate services for children and adults.
- improve tertiary education for teachers and other professionals in specificlearning difficulties.
- provide professional assessment, educational assistance and information services for children and adults with specific learning difficulties.
- provide a resource centre and referral system for those with specific learning difficulties.
- encourage research into areas such as identification, treatment, management and needs analysis for adults.
- promote links with other organisations with similar goals.
