Need Advice on IQ Testing

Hi everyone, I'm new here and recently discovered this website. I hope I'll be able to learn a lot from everyone and receive some good advice.

My son is currently in Year 1 and I have been told that I need to get him tested as he is showing signs of giftedness. His areas are reading, language and comprehension.

My problem is that my son is a perfectionist, and when he feels he is not acheiveing 100%, he will give up. I fear that when he does his IQ testing, he will give up and not perform to his true ability. He tends to hide his special reading ability, especially infront of people he doesn't really know.

Is there anything that I can say or do with him prior to testing that will make him feel comfortable and familiar with the idea of having to perform "tasks" for a new person, and not give up? Any advice would be really welcome!
