gifted with dyslexia

My son is 10 has mild dyslexia and comes under the gifted child with educational testing. We moved from SA to WA 2 years ago and since then I have seen my son just switch off into his own little world. New school, year new teacher and his teacher has told me she can not get a response from him that he won't add ones together for her let alone everything else. I suggested he might be bored but she is trying to assess him along with her other 26 students. He has started the PEAC program and is loving it but is so switched off at school. We live regional WA the teachers just go it's too hard and I am just about pulling out my hair. He is not literacy based, as in able to write things down but he has great comphrension skills he writes 2 sentences and withdraws into his own little world. He has an amzing imagination but can't get it down on paper. I just do not know what to do next the teacher is willing to give things ago but I do not think she has any real ideas. I am not citising his teachers they just do not know what to do. I see the teachers as being like a GP and at the moment we need a specialist to help. His teacher I think is overwhelmed by him as people have this preconception that gifted children just need harder tasks to achieve. I have tried for 2 years to get someone to listen to me about his literacy problems and they basically told me he's OK that my expectations are too high. But he was educationally tested at 7 for dyslexia in SA, as he had to be fully assesed to access special areas at school like the special literacy program. Then we were told he was very intelligent in the top 3% of his age population. He had PEAC testing last year and topped his year / school and now the teachers are willing to listen to my concerns but my son has switched off at school, and I don't know where to go or what to do next. Has anyone got any ideas or similar experiences
