What do you want to know as parents?
Hi
Hi I know to an extent what you are all going through. I was a gifted child and despite the evidence and the tests the school ignored me so giftedness has become a passion of mine. I’m a primary teacher and I am currently writing a book/pamphlet for parents who have just found out that their child is gifted.
I’m including things such as what you can do at home, how to get the most out of the school, as well as a bunch of resources.
But I want to know what you as parents would have liked to know more about when you found out or suspected your child was gifted

I would love to know how to get the school to help a gifted child (but even as a teacher yourself you hit the wall there...which surprises me), how to motivate a bored child, how to help the ones who struggle socially and emotionally and what the government is doing to help these kids. Thank you for wanting to do this and very best of luck with your book!

Also would anyone be ok sharing experiences they have had with schools or testing or raising a gifted child in general? Obviously no names or locations just so I can include some real life experiences? Some of the things people have already written on the forum would be great but I’m not going to use anything unless I have permission.

Also for suggestions... a lot of parents feel really isolated and don't realise that there is a huge online community out there. Contact details of popular forums, websites etc would be great.
